Marcia

She is a sophomore of the international department and a member of the track and field team of No.1 High School. She is now the director of the sports department of the student union of the international department and the director of the planning department of the new media club. She once won the fifth place in the 100 meter track and field competition of the high school students directly under the Suzhou Education Bureau in 2020.

How did she meet with the International Department of Suzhou No.1 High School?

Marcia: Before I signed up for the high school entrance examination, I had the idea of studying abroad. Among so many international schools in Suzhou, I learned about the International Department of No.1 High School in Suzhou. The campus here has an antique scenery. It is not only a featured double diploma course, but also a cooperative school of NCUK. Studying here can make me easily apply to the world's top famous university like The University of Manchester, so I chose here to start my high school life. The International Department's study is very diversified, with rich extracurricular activities. The teachers also support us to do what we like after study. I have the honor to participate in planning a lot of school activities (International Winter Games, Halloween party, etc.), these activities not only exercise my communication and leadership skills, but also give me the opportunity to play my strengths, make me more confident.

As a master athlete, Dai Yan has won numerous awards since she was a child. Whether it's hot or cold, she always runs on the training ground. Those awards are the best proof of her hard work, and she always remembers every bit of training......

Marcia: since middle school, all the competitions I have participated in have been sprint events. This year, I tried to participate in hurdles for the first time. At the beginning of training, I was afraid of tripping over the hurdles. It took me a long time to overcome the first hurdle. I ran to the hurdle countless times, and finally stopped because of fear, and even wanted to give up many times. Later, with the encouragement of teachers and classmates, I finally overcame my inner fear and achieved good results in the competition.

The track and field team of No.1 High School is like a big family. When you ask your teachers or classmates for advice when you do some imperfect or incorrect actions in the training process, everyone will teach you over and over again. Training is hard, but it's fun.

Marcia didn't give up on her heavy study and hard training. How did she balance her daily study and track and field training?

Marcia: during the day, I will devote myself to the study of the international department. In the evening, I will take part in the training. Recently, because the college entrance examination and A-level examination are approaching, I focus on my study. I hope I can get good grades and live up to my efforts during this period.

The sweat during the training period will bring fruitful results, and the process of hard work will add a lot of ink to the application documents.

Marcia: Physical training sharpens my will. When I study, whenever I want to be lazy or give up, I always encourage myself to say, "I can persist in training at ordinary times, and I can't give up in the face of a few problems.". Of course, more or personal experience of the "harvest is to pay", these experiences will also give me great help in the future. In terms of further education, participation in training and competitions also made my application documents more brilliant.

Marcia has already made a plan for her future study and sports training.

Marcia: in the future, we will continue our track and field training and prepare for next year's competition. Academically, I'm going to try my best to pass the A-level exam, and then apply to a Japanese university in my third year of high school.

There is no shortcut in life, there are only step by step, down-to-earth. On the playground of No.1 High school, she left the figure of struggling to run; in the classroom of the International Department, she studied hard and determined the direction of the future... Only once in her youth, Marcia knew to go all out!
