On May 26, 2019,a heavy rain washed away the boredom and noise of Sioux city,between heaven and earth clear and peaceful.
However, the Shengtao Auditorium in the international department of Suzhou No.1 middle school is a very different scene.
The 4th "future star" English speech contest in Suzhou Foreign Teachers English Course Delivery Program sponsored by the international cooperation and exchange office of suzhou education bureau,undertaken by the international department of Suzhou No.1 Middle School has officially kicked off. It was raining outside could not stop the enthusiasm of the audience. From the white-haired old people to the babbling children all came to see these students. The audience has been excited and eager for this annual English event.

After fierce competition, 19 contestants from wujiang district of suzhou, taicang city and zhangjiagang city stood out from the semi-finals. Judges of the competition were Mr. Su changfeng from the education bureau of wuzhong district, Dr. Wu zhengyan from the school of foreign languages in Suzhou Vocational University. Miss Elizabeth Furr, Miss Matilda Evans and Mr. Brad Morgan. Ms. Wang jingzhi from the international cooperation and exchange department of Suzhou education bureau and Ms. Shen guifang from the international department of Suzhou No.1 Middle School were invited guests.

The competition consists of a speech contest and a talent show. In the first round of the speech contest, the contestants presented their prepared English speeches with full enthusiasm and sincerity. They answered the judges' questions fluently in English.

During the impromptu speech session, the short 30-second thinking time cannot limit the contestants' divergent thinking. The contestants presented their ideas and presented their English to the audience with confidence.

After the intense English speech contest, in the second round of talent show, the contestants sang English songs, dubbed English movies, imitated, read English poems and other performance forms, presented a wonderful English audio-visual feast to the audience. After the final two rounds of competition, dai mingyuan, a student from Suzhou Zhenhua Middle School won the first prize by virtue of his standard English pronunciation, cadence, good adaptability and creative talent display.

For the contestants, suzhou education bureau has built a stage for them to show themselves and surpass themselves. They also lived up to their expectations and gave a satisfactory answer to all the teachers, students and audience present. Regardless of the final result, all contestants in the competition deserve the most sincere praise and loud applause.
